three or four of my keys stopped working on my laptop why?
Laptop keyboards are prone to the same problems as others, but the problem is they are part of your computer! Desktops have the luxury of allowing you to just buy a new keyboard, for as little as $9.

- reboot your laptop, sometimes things get 'stuck'
- check to see that the FN or Function button isn't stuck. This button often gives keys an alternate use.
- Clean your keyboard. With your laptop off and unplugged, go outside, turn it upside down and shake it. You'll be surprised what falls out! Use canned air if you have it, being sure to not let frost build up if you spray a lot of air, as this could leave moisture.
- One by one, test Each key, make sure it goes down and pops back up. If not, some have either a tiny spring or flexible plastic that may have broken or come loose. Keys can be popped up, with a butter knife or similar item. BE CAREFUL, and don't do anything your not comfortable with.
- Finally, find the keyboard driver from your computer manufacturer web site, and reload it.
If none of these work, you my have other issues beyond the scope of Asheville. Rather than take your laptop to a Geek Squad or similar repair shop and spend hundreds, I would get a USB plug in Keyboard, and just use that. It's weird at first, but at about $15, is sure cheaper than getting it professionally repaired. ybarra-cgm.com
Good luck, hope this helps.
