Would a router from the cable company be just as good as a L
A couple of points:
- Electronic equipment, like a router, is passive. It can last practically forever if you keep it dusted and if your power is consistent (i.e. no static spikes). It has no moving parts; there is nothing to wear out.
- What becomes obsolete is the technology. Five years ago a wireless router used 802.11 , then we moved to a faster 802.11g, and now were are at 802.11n, which has better range. If the current speed and range is working for you, then you don't need to upgrade every 2 years.

- A basic router is just as good as an expensive one. The differences are in the tweaks and features. A cheap router might not have QoS (Quality of Service) settings or the ability to filter websites based on words (i.e. kid controls). A more expensive router will. ybarra-cgm.com

I have seen routers (new, at the store) for $19.99 which have worked equally as well as a $99.00 one with a brand name. I am sure that the one the cable company sends will be more than adequate. copyright ybarra-cgm
