Is my Router bad? DLink DIR655

Well, I looked up your router on the Internet, and you can read about it here:

It says:

"With D-Link’s Intelligent QoS Technology, wired and wireless traffic is analyzed and separated into multiple data streams. These streams are then categorized by sensitivity to delay, so applications like VoIP, Video Streaming, and Online Gaming are given priority over Web browsing. This enables multiple applications to stream smoothly to your TV or PC."

So this router is apparently programmed to give priority to high-bandwidth streams and low priority to Web browsing. 

So if you're Web browsing but your daughter is watching YouTube or doing some other kind of high-bandwidth stuff, like downloading video or audio files, etc., apparently your daughter is going to get priority to the Internet over you.

You might root around in the admin settings and see if you can shut this feature off, but apparently it was designed for people who wanted to watch video streams without getting interrupted by people who were merely surfing the 'Net.  copyright ybarra-cgm

If you can't shut this feature off, the solution is either get a new router that doesn't do this, or get more bandwidth from your cable or telephone provider.
