I like Mathematica for graphing functions like this -- but you can graph it in Excel, I think, or do it on a graphing calculator (duh). If Excel doesn’t have the tanh function, you can find a table on the web, or look it up in a book such as Handbook of Chemistry and Physics and input the values for, say, x = 0 to 30 into a chart in Excel. ybarra-cgm.com

By inspection, the second term is going to be undefined at x = +/- 1 and get much smaller as x gets larger in the + or - direction.
