put new cd rom in and lost my f drive. how can i get it back

If your CD rom is plugged in then i would try that wizard first to see if it can locate the drive.  If that doesn't work go to the disk manager by right clicking the My Computer icon  then manage. You should see the disk manager in the pane to the left which will open a graphic list of drives connected to your computer.  It will indicate a CDrom drive  then you can right click and assign it any letter you wish by  'changing drive letter and path'
