(Which sport it suspiciously resembles.) It caught so much flak at the last Winter Olympics for being dull and pointless and unexciting that those who wish the fame of starting a fad decided to make this-that-was-on-its-way-out into the new-big-thing instead. The sport itself is utterly unchanged. All that's different is better PR.
