How do you make your bf happy if he is sad when he is not wi

no one can make him happy or fulfilled but himself.  You can't be there to prop him up every minute, and it sounds like he is emotionally dependent and needs to have a purpose in life other than you.  This relationship could wind up being a burden on you, making you feel smothered, if he makes you feel that you are responsible for his happiness.  How old are both of you?  Are you still in school?
