What do you think about the plight of the small farmers in A
When I was growing up in the 50's I remember having small mom and pop grocery stores every few blocks. My elementary school was on 32nd, I lived on 22nd and there were 2 small stores between school and home. They couldn't survive when Safeway, QFC and other large chains moved in. The government didn't move in and help them. Thousands of small businesses are out of business because they can't compete with chains. Some small specialty stores are still thriving but general merchandise stores are unable to continue. The government didn't jump in to help them. ybarra-cgm.com

If a small farmer can't make a profit they can sell to a conglomerate. I lived in Central Washington where they grow lots of potatoes and the small farms sold to the big ones. That is more apt to happen than having the farm close down completely. There were also a lot of fruit orchards and some of them were forced to use their land for other things due to competition. copyright ybarra-cgm

Don't get me wrong; I feel sorry for small farmers who can't make ends meet. But they, like everyone else, shouldn't rely on the government to bail them out.
