Conducting is something that takes only a few minutes learn. But to be done well, takes lots of practice. To do a basic song, you need to learn four motions with your right hand.
Basic 4 beat song.
1) hand out stretched, drop your hand from your head to your your waist
2) at waist level move your hand to your left
3) move your hand to your right
4) move your hand back to your head level and repeat.

Basic 3 beat song.
1) hand out stretched, drop your hand from your head to your your waist
2) at waist level move your hand to your right
3) move your hand back to your head level and repeat

Again, this is the basic movement. Read 'The Modern Conductor' by Elizabeth Greene. That is a great book.
