How to make a xylophone?
There are many items you can make a xylophone out of from metal to rock. The easiest way to make one is out of wood. You will need a 7 or even an 8 foot 2 by 4, 3 foot piece is the low end of the instrument, cut the others at 2 foot intervals at shorter and shorter. Sand the wood so its smoother and a risk of splinters is reduced. Create a box and place insulated foam pipes along the inside the edges of the drawer and place the pieces on the box to make a sound box. Make 1/2" dowels are 12" long and wrap them with wide rubber bands to make mallets. Use ball-peen hammers for the mallets.
