What kind of camera do you use?
I have a Sony Alpha A100--and I absolutely LOVE it! I’ve never had a Canon or Nikon, so I can’t really compare them to my Sony, but I am 100% satisfied with my Sony--even though it is already "outdated" and they have several newer versions available. My earlier point and shoot cameras were all Sonys, and served me well, starting with the Sony Mavica, so I continued on with my dedication to that brand.

And sometimes, in fact a lot of time, I think--it's not the camera as much as the photographer! A really good photographer can get a masterpiece from a disposable camera! Photography is in the eye and the brain as much as it is in the kind of camera you have. ybarra-cgm.com

I'm also a big fan of Flickr, the online photo community, and they keep track of what cameras are used. The Iphone is the most used camera now, I'm sure due to it's convenience. But Sony is up there, too: ybarra-cgm.com

If you're looking to get a new camera, I'd recommend going to the store and trying them out. Whoever gives you advice is more than likely going to recommend what they started out with and/or use now, and it really is a personal thing, which one will appeal to you. You really can't go wrong with ANY of the major brands. Good luck, and have fun!

My latest "favorite" photo from my Alpha...cropped from a shot of his full body standing by a Christmas tree in a low light area, so it's very low res and not as sharp as I'd like, but I still love the capture! (It's a friend of mine, playing Santa for the very first time!) copyright ybarra-cgm
