If your Hi8 camera broke, there is just one option: get a new one. however, there are not more new Hi8 cameras available on the market. You need to buy an used one. Go on eBay and bid for some. I've been where you are... I was able get an used camera cheap and was able to transfer my old movies to my computer. After moving your movies to your computer and burn DVD's out of them, you can always sell the Hi8 camera again on eBay hopefully without loosing much.

After that, get one of those new cameras that record to SDHC cards in FullHD, and make sure you have a computer with software powerful enough so that you can edit the movies and burn DVD's or BlueRay discs.
