Most large dept. stores have displays of many digital slr camras for sale. Don't just pick a point & shoot as if you get into the hobby you will get bored with this type. Do choose one (let you pick the mfg.) that has some types of settings etc. Also can you change lenses? copy pics to the pc? modes for shooting conditions, playback, printing, focusing functions, exposure, image and color. I have an Olympus E-300 in which I have had now for about 5 yrs. and still don't know all the functions. Ha. Good luck ybarra-cgm.com
