Have you already gotten another pup? I'm very sorry for your loss. If you are both still grieving heavily it may not be time for a new addition quite yet. When you can do so before a loss it helps but sometimes a bit of time after is best. You are going to know that and when it is time best. Is your Kuvasz aggressive with other dogs usually? Best chances are usually with a puppy of opposite sex but sometimes depending on dog and aggression levels it can be difficult or just wouldn't be recommended to introduce another dog sometimes. Always supervise any interactions until you know things are okay and any adjustment period is over. Typical adjustment period without aggression as a factor is usually about a two to four week period while they figure things out and establish who's the boss and all of that. While it's hard, best not to pay extra attention to the puppy and be sure it's clear to the dog that was there first that the new guy isn't a big threat to their place in the pack as far as your concerned. Basically, keep things as normal as possible and begin the way you mean to go on. :-) An older dog disciplining a new pup is usually to be expected and the sooner the rules are established the sooner everyone can move on but it has to be clear aggression and violence and hurting is not allowed (with non aggressive dog's usually) with you in complete control. You will need to evaluate discipline versus a territorial/protective reaction over a person or something adjustments may need to be made then.

Since they aren't a breed many people/trainer's ect. Are going to be very familiar with (including me) I would suggest contacting some of the people at the breed parent club and that way they can ask the important questions to evaluate a little more in depth and offer advice on how to best go about it while knowing the breed itself which is often a very important factor. On that note, would you mind telling me ALL about your pup from day one to now and just everything and let me pick your brain a bit maybe? Where did you get him and how old? The things you've gone to the vet for and frequency, personality, training ease, issues and what seemed to work the best and all of that? ;-) Good luck!
